ABOUT RESPORT ATHLETICS
Making sport more accessible, sustainable, and community-driven.
ReSport Athletics was founded to help reduce barriers to sport participation by providing affordable access to quality equipment, practical services, and community-focused initiatives that support athletes and families at every level.
The goal of ReSport is simple: keep sport accessible, keep good equipment in use, and support healthy, active communities.
WHY RESPORT EXISTS
ReSport was created in response to a real and common challenge: the rising cost of sport.
Many families can access registration support, but still struggle to afford the equipment required to participate. Programs are often limited in capacity, and navigating second-hand markets can be difficult — especially for families new to a sport or unfamiliar with equipment requirements.
ReSport exists to bridge that gap by combining:
-
Affordable access to new and used equipment
-
Guidance on fit, safety, and sport-specific needs
-
Practical services that help extend the life of gear
This approach is designed to support participation without stigma, complexity, or unnecessary expense.
A COMMUNITY-ROOTED APPROACH
ReSport is rooted in lived experience and long-term community involvement.
The business was developed over several years, informed by firsthand challenges navigating youth sport access, coaching experience in local leagues, and a shared belief in the importance of physical activity for both mental and physical well-being.
Since 2020, over $20,000 worth of sports equipment has been personally purchased and collected to support the foundation of ReSport. This early investment reflects a long-term commitment to building a sustainable model that prioritizes reuse, accessibility, and community impact.
INDIGENOUS OWNED AND COMMUNITY LED
ReSport Athletics is an Indigenous-owned business, founded by a member of a local First Nation with lived experience navigating barriers to sport access.
This perspective informs ReSport’s commitment to equity, community well-being, and creating practical solutions that support youth and families. The business is guided by values of inclusion, respect, and long-term community impact.
COMMUNITY ACCESS
Supporting youth participation is central to ReSport’s mission.
ReSport is developing a community-based youth access initiative intended to help reduce financial barriers to sport participation. This initiative may include access to equipment and select services for youth in need and will be shaped in collaboration with local families, schools, First Nations, and community organizations.
As the program develops, details around referrals, eligibility, and partnerships will be shared publicly.
LOOKING AHEAD
ReSport Athletics is currently in the planning and development phase. The business is preparing for launch by finalizing its service model, securing equipment and infrastructure, and applying for funding to support both operations and community programming.
While ReSport is rooted in Campbell River, future plans include pop-up service events and regional outreach to help extend access to sport across Vancouver Island.
